Our stunning breakfasts use locally sourced ingredients, and our in-house roasted coffee provides a one-of-a-kind experience that has made us an award-winning breakfast spot in Puerto Viejo.
Our coffee is crafted with passion, a labor of love that has been perfected over time. We take pride in our ability to roast the finest Costa Rican coffee beans on-site, allowing us to craft our very own signature Café Rico Blend. Our meticulous approach involves small-scale roasting, culminating in a final product that is aromatic, smooth, and damn good.
Our fresh fruit is brought in by local vendors from the markets of Puerto Viejo. Our bananas are bought by the bunch straight off the tree, and our pineapples are Costa Rican gold–considered the sweetest and best in the world. We deep fry our ripe plantains to perfection, yielding a rich caramel color and enhancing their inherent sweetness. Try a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice, or a velvety papaya smoothie made when ordered.
All of our freshly baked bread is sourced from a local bakery where every loaf is handcrafted. These rounded loaves are cut fresh each morning before being toasted and served with a variety of our entrees or as a side dish on their own with butter, jam, and local honey.
The cage-free brown eggs served at our tables are delivered from Happy Eggs to Café Rico weekly. These eggs are truly the backbone of many of our dishes, so we make sure that the quality is egg-celent.
We also make our own syrups with raw sugar derived from local Costa Rican sugar cane. Its less-refined and deeper flavor pairs beautifully with our house blend coffee. Our chocolate syrup is also made in-house with Costa Rican cocoa.
